Below is information about Past events

Earth Week

The campus celebrated Earth Week April 21 - 26, 2014 by participating in a variety of activities including a recycling drive for plastic bags, recycleable bottles and cans, and electronic waste, and a campus clean up event. Earth hour encouraged energy savings by flipping the switch in the dining halls and other buildings across campus. Students were able to tour the new Liberal Arts Building and learn about the sustainable components incorporated into its design. Demonstrations at the new bike fix-it station were available so cyclists could learn the basics of how to tune up your bike. And, ECOS gave away free bare root conifer trees to plant at home.

Recyclemania

 Recycle Mania Tournament

The College once again participated in the national, eight-week Recyclemania tournament February 2 – March 29, 2014.

Recyclemania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities on campus. Each week colleges report the amount of recycling and trash collected and are then ranked in various categories against other competing schools.

This year, the College promoted Recyclemania in a variety of ways to help raise awareness about the importance of recycling. To kick off the tournament, members of the Brockport community took the pledge to recycle. Our school made the top ten list for the most pledges received among participating colleges across the country! Each residence hall competed to see which hall consistently recycled the most by each room placing their blue bin in the hallway on the designated day. Most recently, the College conducted an "I recycle, do you?" social media campaign, which included over 70 photos of people across campus promoting recycling.
