Green Box Program

BASC leads with sustainability in mind: we’re happy to bring back our Green Box program, a to-go option designed to reduce your carbon footprint! This plastic reusable to-go box (Green Box) can be used by students on any meal plan to enjoy food on the go from Brockway Dining Hall Express and for students on the Unlimited Access Plan to additionally enjoy allotted to-go meals from Harrison Dining Hall!

Each new student on a meal plan will receive (1) Green Box that can be redeemed at the register. Returning students, be sure to hold onto your Green Box or your Exchange Wristband between semesters! Additional Green Boxes may be purchased for $9 using Easy Money or a debit/credit card. When you return the Green Box to the dining hall, simply exchange it for a cleaned and sanitized one to use for another to-go meal, OR  for an “Exchange Wristband” for use at a later time. Return the “Exchange Wristband” at a future meal for a cleaned and sanitized container to use for to-go. If you already have a Green Box, be sure to hold onto your box or your wristband between semesters!

Green Box Program FAQs

Each new student meal plan includes (1) Green Box container. Additional Green Boxes may be purchased for $9 using Easy Money or a debit/credit card.  Exchange your used container for a clean one or an Exchange Wristband, which is good for a to-go box at a later time. Returning students must hold onto your Green Box or your Exchange Wristband between semesters! 

Green Boxes can be acquired at no charge for new students on a Meal Plan. Let the cashier know that you’d like to redeem your Green Box token. They will remove the Green Box token from your account and give you a Green Box for your first use. Note that those on the Unlimited Access Plan may redeem their token at Harrison or Brockway. Those on any other meal plan should redeem their token at Brockway Express. Returning students must hold onto your Green Box or your Exchange Wristband between semesters!

Return your Green Box to the dining hall for a washed and sanitized one the next time you’d like to use a to-go meal. Or return your Green Box at any time for an Exchange Wristband to use at a later time. 

Enjoy the Green Box Program for take-out at Brockway Dining Hall Express! Students on the Unlimited Access Plan may additionally use their (32) allotted to-go meals at Harrison Dining Hall.   

No, only those on the Unlimited Access Plan may utilize their allotted to-go meals from Harrison in addition to Brockway Express.

Students on the Unlimited Access Plan may use the Green Box Program to take up to (32) to-go meals from Harrison Dining Hall or Brockway Dining Hall Express per semester. Students on all other meal plans may use the Green Box Program to take to-go meals from Brockway Dining Hall Express only.

There is no limit as to how many containers you may have, but each additional box costs $9. Since we clean and sanitize each box between uses, we encourage you to only keep one container at a time and rely on an Exchange Wristband to receive a fresh box later.

Yes, via two separate transactions. First use a meal to dine in and then return to the cashier to tender a to-go meal. The cashier will provide you with a Green Box at that time. Customers may not consume food out of the Green Box while dining in and then refill their container. Customers may also not enter the dining hall with an existing Green Box. Instead, they must either return it for an Exchange Wristband or tender a to-go meal to receive a clean and sanitized Green Box.

Nope! While we encourage you to bring the container back as clean as possible, BASC washes all Green Box containers in our dishwashing facilities to ensure proper sanitation. This helps keep our lines clean and your boxes fresh! Simply give your sustainable Green Box to the cashier in return for a clean one.

If you forget your Green Box or Exchange Wristband, you have three options:

  • You can pay the $9 for another sustainable box.
  • You can return to your home to get the used container/Exchange Wristband and a receive a clean one at no charge.
  • Or you can always eat with us and dine-in!
