Q: What if I lose my ID card?

A: You must go in person to the Business Office on the first floor of Brockway Hall to get a new ID card or a replacement card. If your ID card is lost or stolen, we recommend that you deactivate your card until you either get a temporary card or purchase a new ID card. Deactivate your card within GET to turn off door access to your residennce hall, and then be sure to deactivate your card within StudentLink for your Dining Plan and other accounts. Once you have deactivated your card you must go to the Business Office to reactivate your card, get a temporary ID card or purchase a new ID card. There is a $25 fee to replace your ID card.

TEMPORARY CARDS: In the event that an ID card is misplaced, a temporary card can be issued by going to the Business Office in Brockway Hall (M-F, 8 am-4:30 pm), or TRAX (Daily 7 pm-1 am) if the Business Office is closed. The temporary card will expire in 4 days and MUST be returned to the Business Office or a $25 fine will be imposed. The temporary ID card replaces your ID card; therefore if you find your ID card it will not work. You must bring the temporary ID card and your ID card to the Business Office to reactivate your card.

The temporary ID card will not work for the residence hall entry system; you can get a temporary resident hall entrance card from your resident director.

Q: Can I loan my ID card?

A: No. When you sign up for a dining plan, you are entering a contractual agreement with the College in return for tax-exempt status. Loaning your card to someone else is a direct violation of that agreement. Also, your ID card protects you from identity theft and therefore protects your dining plans and Easy Money accounts.

Q: Where can I get accessories for my ID card?

A: SUNY Brockport lanyards are available from the Brockport Student Government offices or the Barnes & Noble College Bookstore. The Business Office sells plastic card holders for $1.00 that make it easy to carry your card on a lanyard or keychain.

Q: Why didn't my card work when I tried to purchase something?

A: To use your ID card to purchase goods and services you need to have either a Dining Plan Account or an Easy Money account active on your card. If you did not purchase one, you may at the Business Office in Brockway Hall or you can sign up online. If you had an Easy Money account last semester, you may be low on funds and you may add more using the online account management tool (you need to know your Banner ID#).

Q: Why didn't my card work in the Dining Halls (Brockway or Harrison)?

A: There are several reasons this is possible:

  1. You have not purchased a dining plan or Easy Money. Commuter and townhome students are not assigned a dining plan unless they decide to purchase one.
  2. You do not have sufficient funds in your account. You can add more Dining Dollars or Easy Money online, by calling 585.395.BASC(2272), or by stopping at the Business Office in Brockway Hall.
  3. You have a defective or worn ID Card. Please go to the Dining Services Office in Brockway Hall to get a new one.

Q: Why doesn't my ID card open my residence hall door?

A: The ID card is used as a universal identifier. For security reasons, each residence hall controls access to their areas. If your ID card does not work in the residence hall door that you should have access to, contact the administrator at Residential Life.
