Tips for Navigating the First Weeks

The first couple of weeks of every fall semester is a busy time. It’s important to know that there will be lines at eateries especially during peak mealtimes (i.e. 12 – 1 pm and 5 – 6:30 pm) until routines are found. Here are some tips to avoid lines:

  • Dine at an off-peak time (Harrison and Brockway Dining Halls are open continuous service from open to close.)
  • Check the current occupancy online for Harrison Dining Hall and Brockway Dining Hall before heading over.
  • Use your Green Box for a to-go meal from the dining halls (only available at Brockway Dining Hall for those on an “Any” Meals per Week plan). As a reminder, all new students have a token on their meal plan to be redeemed at the register for their first box. Returning students, be sure to hold onto your Green Box or Exchange Wristband between semesters!
  • Use Points to dine at any eatery on campus including The Square, Subway, Jitterbugs Café, Raj Madan Café, TRAX, and The Nest.

Harrison Dining Hall

Harrison Dining Hall was renovated this summer! In addition to aesthetic updates, the daily feature line was expanded, providing even more variety, and other updates were made to ease traffic flow and congestion. The made-without-gluten station has moved and is now also free of peanut and tree nut allergens, and a new dish room enables post-consumer composting capabilities. New digital menu boards are now at every station. These boards make nutrition information easily accessible – they display the nine major allergens and include a QR code for additional nutritional information.

As the largest dining operation, Harrison is open continuous service weekdays from breakfast through dinner and weekends from brunch through dinner. It offers a wide variety of menu choices each meal period including pizza, grill items, salad, soup, sandwiches, vegan and vegetarian options, and made without gluten selections along with traditional menu favorites. Harrison features a Yolato frozen yogurt machine in addition to regular Sundae Bar nights and weekly display cooking events with customizable options. In addition, the Gluten-Free zone provides cereals, breads, deli meat, and dessert selections along with a dedicated (GF) toaster, refrigerator, and freezer. Take out is available using the Green Box program for those on the Unlimited 300, 200, and 100 plans.

Brockway Dining Hall

Brockway Dining Hall has expanded its menu and hours of operation this fall to include continuous service from breakfast through dinner Monday – Thursday and breakfast through lunch on Fridays. Its menu includes daily features, vegan and vegetarian options, pizza, soup, a large salad and fruit bar, deli sandwiches, Yolato frozen yogurt and desserts. Take out is available using the Green Box program for applicable meal plans, making Brockway an ideal choice for students with tight schedules looking for a convenient meal at the center of campus.

Nutrition Information & Special Dietary Needs

We’re pleased to announce that Nutrition Tracker, our online menu and nutrition portal, was updated this summer and now uses a new backend system to display multiple daily menus at a time by dining location. Customers can view complete nutrition information for the items served and filter menus by allergens and eating lifestyles. We label for the nine major allergens. Students are encouraged to speak to a manager at any time if you have food allergies and/or need help finding options. They’re always happy to assist! Our Special Dietary Needs webpage also has a wealth of information to help you navigate the options available. If you need additional assistance with a special dietary need, please email us at business.services@basc1.org.
